Students can now apply for a Fall Semester Scholarship!  You can pick up an application form in Student Services or click on the link below for a copy.

Scholarship Application Fall 2018

There are four $1200 Academic Scholarships, 3 for University level students, and one for a secondary level student. Students must be completing at least their 2nd semester of full-time studies to be eligible.

The application deadline is the end of the day on Friday, October 12. Hand in your application to a member of staff in Student Services or e-mail it to ssa@columbiacollege.ca.

Double Probation Information

If your semester GPA is below 1.7 for two consecutive semesters, you are on Double Probation and you are blocked from registration.

If you wish to register for courses in the 2018 Fall Semester you must appeal to the Appeal Committee by completing this form: https://goo.gl/forms/6oIHQJeXKhTUqYnk1

The deadline to appeal is Monday, August 20 at 1pm.

If you have questions about what this means, your status or how to complete your appeal, please attend one of the following meetings:

• Wednesday, August 15 at 11am in Room 316
• Thursday, August 16 at 11am in Room 316
• Friday, August 17 at 11am in Room 316

Counsellors will not meet with students individually about their double probation appeal. If you have questions, you should attend one of the above meetings.

The Appeal Committee will review your application and decide whether to allow you to register.

If you indicate that you have documentation to support your appeal, please send it to registration@columbiacollege.ca. If you do not send the documentation, we will consider your appeal as incomplete, and may not review it.

After the Appeal Committee has met, you will be contacted through your student e-mail account.

Change to collection of Tuition Fees for Fall 2018

Dear Student,

You will not be able to register for courses for the Fall 2018 semester unless your tuition fees are paid in full at the time of registration (or in advance).  This is a new policy and this rule allows no exceptions so you must plan ahead.

The 24 hours rule that has been used in the past will NO LONGER APPLY.

New Course Added: Political Science 202

Registration Wait List Information

There are no wait lists for 100 level courses.

Once a 100 level course section is full, students will not be able to register in that course section or join a wait list. Students should check the Student Portal regularly (daily) to monitor if any seats become available. Occasionally, new course sections are added to the timetable during and after early registration so it is important to stay connected (this website, Instagram, Student Portal).

Wait lists for 200 level courses:

If a 200 level course is full, students can request to be placed on a wait list*.

Student must send the request to registration@columbiacollege.ca on or after their registration date/time**.

The following information must be included in the request:

1. In the subject line of the email, state Wait List Request for [course name].

Example: Wait List Request for CMNS 205 sec. 12.

2. Include the following information in the body of the email message:
   1. Your full name
   2. Student number
   3. Course name
   4. Course section
   5. Contact information (email and mobile number)
   6. Total number of credits earned at Columbia College
   7. Do you meet the prerequisite requirement for that course or have a waiver?***

Example:  My name is John Smith; my student number is 812545. Please place my name on the waitlist for CMNS 205 sec. 12. You can contact me at jsmith@cc.ca or by phone at 778-222-2244.  I have completed 36 credits at Columbia College. I meet the prerequisite requirement for this course (passed English 100, earned more than 12 academic credits, and completed CMNS 110 with C- or higher).

If a seat becomes available, the first student on the list will be offered the seat via email and/or phone. The student will have 24 hours to accept the seat. After 24 hours the offer will expire. Students must check their e-mail and phone messages daily.

*Must meet all prerequisites for the course; otherwise, the request will be discarded.

**Any requests received before the allocated registration date/time will be discarded. Please refer to the Summer 2018 Registration Schedule. Example: Student with 36 credits at CC, should NOT send the request before 2PM on April 19^th at 2PM.

English 230, “Rethinking Science Fiction in Canada”, presents an opportunity to explore these questions in an approachable way: through directed study, meeting once a week to discuss ideas and stories, and gaining credits towards your degree in the process!
